First off i ll provide a guideline.
Chandelier over dining table height.
The chandelier should hang over the center of the table.
To be very clear it is the bottom of the chandelier which should be at this height.
This range assumes you have an 8 foot ceiling.
Single chandeliers should be centered over the table or island while multiple chandeliers or pendants should hang 30 inches apart from each other.
In most cases it should be 60 inches from the floor to the bottom of the fixture.
Keep all lights at least 6 inches from the ends of the table or island.
The generally accepted rule for hanging dining room chandeliers is that the bottom of the fixture should hang between 30 and 36 inches above the top of the dining table.
The bottom of the fixture should be 32 to 36 inches above the tabletop.
The calculation for the chandelier height above a dining table is quite simple.
It doesn t matter the size of your table you need to be concerned about the height of the fixture from the floor.
I really feel that every situation is different.
12 feet less 5 feet 60 inches would give you a chain length of about 7 feet.
Hang your dining room chandelier between 30 and 34 inches from the tabletop for a standard 8 foot table.
As a general rule for a standard 8 foot or 2 45 metre ceiling you should install your chandelier about 30 34 inches or 76 87 centimeters above the table.
It depends on the size of the table the diameter and height of the fixture and the height of the ceiling.
Now that i ve told you that rule i m also going to tell you to disregard it.
