Chevy Truck Door Wont Open From Inside Or Outside

The lock on my door still goes up and down as if it can be locked and unlocked.

I climbed in the right side door and the door opened correctly from the inside. Are there any tricks to open the door so i can finish my repair. All linkage is in. I am in process of fixing it when the door shut.

I gave it a good tug and the handle came off the door in my hand leaving the rest of the handle mechanism on the door. These parts run between the key tumbler the door lock button the lock mechanism the interior and exterior door handles and the release mechanism for the latch. However when it is in the unlocked position i still cannot open my drivers door from the inside or the outside. I know the door latch is broken my question is how do i open the door.

Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch.
